The stool is examined under the microscope for parasites and their eggs, blood and pus cells, and undigested food.
It is ordered with ongoing diarrhoea or constipation, abdominal pain, and in children with poor appetite or weight.
Preparation before the test
- Use a clean lab container; do not mix with urine or water.
- Bring it to the lab within two hours.
